Flowers’ business bloom

DEC 25, KATHMANDU. Enough income has been made after production of flowers which were initially grown to beatify homes, was made commercial in the country.

According to the Nepal Floriculture Cooperatives Ltd. more than Rs. 660 million of flowers were transacted in Nepal in the fiscal year 2067-68 BS.

Cooperatives Vice Chairman Kumar Kasaju Shrestha said flower is produced commercially through 650 flower nurseries in 35 districts of Nepal. They cover 110 hectares of land and some 40,000 have received direct employment, the Cooperatives said.

Demand for flowers has been increasing 10- 15 percent yearly, he said. A lalupate flower exhibition is currently being held in Jawalakhel of Lalitur. RSS
